Carers Support Merton
Supporting Unpaid Carers

Are you a carer?...You could be!

A carer is someone who looks after a family member, partner, friend or neighbour who due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction is unable to manage alone.

Carers provide unpaid care and support involving, for example, personal care (washing, bathing, dressing, feeding), cooking, shopping, housework and giving emotional support.

•             Carers could be anyone, of any age or from any background.

(Including children – looking after an ill or disabled family member)

•             Some carers can be in part-time or full time employment.

•             Carers do not always recognise themselves as carers.

If that sounds like you, or someone close to you, we could help!

How can CSM help You?

We provide FREE support to all Carers from 5 to 100+. We also work together with carers to improve the services available to them by making sure that the relevant authorities are aware of and take account of carers needs when decisions are made about service provision in the borough.

At CSM, we have specialist services to help most carers such as parent carers, carers of people with mental health issues, carers of disabled people, carers of older people, carers who want to go to work or are at work and young carers. We can also generally assist other carers such as carers of people with learning difficulties and those with alcohol and substance misuse issues.

Our specialist team help carers with:

  • Health
  • Money and benefits matters
  • Problems at work
  • Going out and meeting people
  • Getting extra support to help you with your caring responsibility.

This can allow you to have a break now and then, to take a job or even go to college.
