Turning Point Prospects

About Us and our Philosophy

Prospects aims to provide safe, secure and supportive accomodation to Wandsworth residents who have been deemed homeless and are ready to address their long term needs to remain abstinent with support from the staff team in order to live independently.

We believe that in order for individuals to make, and sustain, lasting personal changes, we need to provide a consistently secure, supportive and a positive environment. Within this environment, we can then enable service users to remain abstinent, or stabilise their use so that they can develop the skills they need to live a more independent life.

We realise that our residents may have had previous tenancies that the were unable to sustain. As a consequence of this, they may lead a chaotic lifestyle, including possible self-harm and neglect, anti social behavious and an increased risk of offending behaviour. We therefore provide a range of appropriate one to one interventions that match the specific needs, skills and aspirations of each resident. We also have onsite counselling, alternative therapies and access to a dual diagnosis worker.

The Programme

Prospects operates three houses which residents through which residents will advance as their recovery progresses. For entry to the first house, applicants are required to be drink and drug free. Service users will then engage in the three aspects of care; educational, voluntary and therapeutic activities. As service remain clean for longer periods of time they progress to the 2nd and 3rd stage houses, where they will spend increasing amounts of time engaging in the 3 aspects.

Before a resident moves in they receive an induction to familiarise themselves with our policies and procedures. We explain what is expected of them, as wall as what they can expect of the service. This is provided by the use of a mentoring/buddying system by successful ex service useres from our programme.

Following this induction, each resident is allocated a keyworker with whom they will devise a person centred, comprehensive care plan and risk assessment which takes in to account their individual treatment needs, budgeting skills, personal care needs, voluntary work, basic skills and employment opportunities.

Residents will meet on a regualr basis with their keyworker to review this plan and to assist them in developing independent living skills and, if needed, help in reducing harmful and/or vilent behaviour. We refer all residents to outside agencies and treatment providers to cater for the resident's individual needs to follow the ocnnected care procedure.

All residents are also encouraged to participate in the joint running of the house, including attendance at weekly house business meetings, each house has it's own service user rep and seperate service user meetings.

We also offer aftercare for those service users that have moved on.
