Aurora Foundation for People Abused in Childhood
Counselling and support service for adults abused in childho

About Us

The Aurora Foundation for People Abused in Childhood (Aurora ) is a Trauma Recovery Centre and registered charity founded in 2006 by Susannah Faithfull (pictured as a 5 year old) to help people like herself whose lives have been blighted by childhood abuse. Aurora was created from her experiences as a survivor of childhood abuse and her professional work with other adult victims.

From Susannah’s personal recovery and later as a therapist she developed an approach for her own practice which is now utilised in Aurora – this is called the “Aurora Approach”. This unique approach combines specialist therapeutic and social intervention to effectively help adult men and women heal from all forms of childhood abuse and trauma - especially sexual abuse.

Our Services

Aurora provides a range of specialist, integrative counselling and psychotherapy interventions (including biodynamic psychotherapy that unites both bodywork and talking therapy) within a safe, empathic and confidential space.

Clients can explore difficult and sensitive issues with experienced and sensitive practitioners without judgement or repercussion. These talking therapies help victims of abuse work through their childhood traumas and the associated deep despair often experienced. With the dedicated commitment and determination of both client and therapist, these Aurora Approach talking therapies enable clients to experience more fulfilling and resourceful lives.

Aurora provides an opportunity for clients - who are seriously committed and fully prioritise their therapy - to achieve and sustain recovery. Recovery is considered a very serious business at Aurora. Our clients heal and sustain their recovery because of their consistent hard work, determination and full commitment to their personal journey both within and outside of their therapy sessions.

Success in your own recovery depends upon attending, fully participating and being totally honest in your therapy sessions irrespective of whether your self-denial, self-sabotage and/or self-destruction is uppermost at the time, or not. No one can do this for you - it has to be done by you with positive, caring support.

Time heals and healing takes time!
