Missing People
A lifeline when someone disappears
Missing People

Adults

You might be reading this because you are missing – or lost touch with someone who is missing you. Whatever your situation, we are here to help.
We provide a unique, confidential 24/7 service called Message Home. If you are in crisis, unsure of what to do next or would like to pass a message to someone, please get in touch.

We know that people go missing for so many different reasons and that returning home or getting in touch with family is not always an option. We respect your right to go missing, and to stay missing, if that is what you want to do.

The charity can’t trace your calls, texts or emails. We’re here to work with you, to explain your options and try to get you the help you need.

Young People

You can contact us whenever you want us and however you want, we are here for you.

Runaway Helpline is free, confidential and 24/7.

You can text us even if you have no credit left on your mobile phone.

We will talk to you in confidence to explain your options and try to get you the help you want. We won’t tell anybody you have called us unless you want us to. We can’t trace your calls, emails or texts.

There maybe projects near you who can help you. We can tell you about these if you contact us.

Friends & Families

We’re here to help if someone you care about has gone missing. Missing People offers support, advice and practical help at this difficult time. We can also help if you’ve lost touch with a family member.

We provide around the clock emotional support for the duration of the disappearance. To access this support, please contact us.

Our caring and highly trained staff and volunteers will discuss your options and try to get you the support you need. If you’re worried about the safety of a missing person, we would encourage you to contact the police as a first point of call.

Visit our website for details of further services we provide to families and friends of missing people.

We recognise that many people are affected when someone goes missing, we support families and friends of missing people.  Where the word ‘family’ is used on this Page or throughout the Charity’s services, this also includes friends and loved ones.
