Glory of God Ministries
Christian ministry - Refugee Centre - Community Outreach

We are a ministry founded on biblical principles. We serve in the spirit of excellence with integrity and compassion for our community, our nation and our world.

As a Church of Christ Jesus, we believe in helping the needy, as written in the Bible. So we take this as our daily duty wherever we are.

A broad range of support is provided by the Church. We offer both spiritual aid and physical aid, including:

  1. Hospital visits: accompanying people in hospital appointments, filling in forms and organising medications.
  2. Translating: interpreting in interviews, hospitals and other places.
  1. Shopping: accompanying people while shopping and buying food -for those who have language problems.
  2. Travelling: showing people where to buy their bus passes and travel cards. Helping those unfamiliar with English currency. Showing people which bus, and train to use in order for them to reach their destination.
  3. Finding jobs when possible.
  4. Counselling: family, marriage, children and youth.
  5. Bible study: teaching people about Jesus Christ
  6. Visiting: those in prison, detention or hospital.
We also visit the bereaved, and homeless to encourage those who have lost their hope.

Refugee Action Centre

Our Refugee centre provides information, advice, and support in the following areas:

  2. Immigration: Directing people to a solicitor (working in partnership with ASREP African Swahiliphone Refugee Project in the UK)
  3. Employment: Helping People to find a job by newsletter, internet, and also helping to fill in application forms.
  4. Education and Training: ESOL ( English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Computer Working in partnership with South Thames College.
  5. Translation Service: for Lingala and French speakers, who do not speak English.

Refugees Action Centre also organises seminars and workshops on health promotion, covering areas such as:

  • Mental health
  • Drugs and alcohol use.

Community Innitiative Projects

We are currently working on a number of Community Projects, both here in the UK and in Africa.

Why Community Initiatives?

It is the Church's duty to meet the spiritual needs of the community.

We want to encourage all our people to live decent and respectable lives, enabling them to portray a positive contribution towards the welfare for the community.

In the UK

Our goal is to purchase a centre, not only to praise God but also a place where the community can come together.

We aim to provide:

  • A Crèche
  • A Youth Club
  • An ICT and ESOL training Centre
  • Employment related advice Centre

In Africa too, we aim to build community, training and medical centres and support orphans. Through these works we aim to generate pathways to employment.

For the Commission of these projects contributions from the community – both financial and otherwise – are most appreciated.

“How grateful I am and how I praise the Lord that you are helping me again.”
